OBJECTIVE:
To help dads learn effective, gentle burping techniques that support digestion, reduce discomfort, and create a calmer post-feeding routine.
Why Burping Matters:
Babies swallow air while feeding — whether they’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding — and that air needs to come out. Regular burping:
Prevents gas and bloating
Reduces spit-up or reflux
Makes your baby feel more comfortable
Helps your baby sleep better after feeds
Gives you time to bond and check in with how they’re feeling
When to Burp Your Baby:
During feeding: Especially if baby seems fussy, slows down, or pulls away
After feeding: Always burp at the end of a feed, even if baby seems content
Bottle-feeding tip: Pause halfway through the bottle to burp
💡 Dad Tip: Every baby is different. Some need burping more often than others — and that’s totally normal.
How to Know It's Working:
You might hear a small burp — or even a few!
Baby might relax or even fall asleep
No burp? That’s okay — not every baby burps after every feed. Try for a few minutes and move on if they’re calm.
Feeding with Emulait
Emulait bottles are designed to reduce excess air intake thanks to their anatomically accurate nipple design and air flow regulation. That means less gas and fewer burps may be needed — but it's still a good idea to check in with your baby after every feed. Using Emulait and practicing proper burping helps create a more natural, comfortable experience for both baby and dad.
